UNLADYLIKE – A WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAY

“Be ladylike” I grew up playing basketball. I have sweat, bled, and torn ligaments for this sport. I’ve sacrificed my mind, body, and time for the team. Some seasons I played every minute of every game, while others I rode the bench. No matter where I was I had adoration for this sport on and off the court. However, none of this mattered to the male refs, fans, or coaches, who thought my hustle, my temper, my passion for the game was inappropriate. I was not disrespectful. I was not rude. I was not undisciplined. I was just “Unladylike.”
